In the execution of the step called "ocho", we noted in our years of experience that the students (male or female) have an initial difficulties, especially in the positioning of the feet on starting, like a motion absurd difficult to understand into the mechanism of execution. Thanks to a clip, you can see now, how much is simple and fun, this step!

Many of us remember two undisputed people in Tango: Carlos Gavito and Pablo Veron. Maybe a few will know that Sally Porter, the female interpreter in the film "Tango Lessons", wanted to dance with Carlos. He met her in London, when he opened a school of Tango, and she was little more than a dancer. Sally knew ballroom dancing and all specialties standards, including the Tango, but Carlos said that Sally was not able to dance the Argentine Tango, it was fine for milonga, but certainly not to be a "tanguera": to be that the road would be long, and in fact took lessons twice a week for two years . Meanwhile, she had already present inside the desire to produce a film about Tango, and asked Carlos to be her partner in the dance performances. In response, Carlos gave her the phone number of a certain Pablo Veron, his friend. Carlos was more interested in his little girl Eva Caroline, and in his partner both in dance and in life. The rest we all know, but Pablo moved away permanently from Carlos after the production of the film.

In our mutual benefit to produce Tango lessons, we noted the importance of having a good choice in the musical repertoire, the presence of a camera and a video system that allows students to see movies of the great protagonists of the dance, as icon to emulate, as an incentive to be more and more perfect in the execution of the steps.
For the camera, all models are fine: it serves to snap a position to show the couple dancing and permits to detect possible errors not detectable by themself at the time. For the video system, we insist on the usefulness of being able to see, as a couple dancing, what the teacher wants to indicate during Tango lesson, if the explanation made by the teacher is not enough to be understood.
For music, a side note: we insist that it can not be enough listening to the same music of past years or the primordial years of this dance, but we should also expand with modern music, as long as they have resonance with the pace of Tango. Very often we are faced with students whose musical sense is reduced almost to zero: modern music adequately performed and presented, allows a new approach to dance with pleasure growing. We will return to this topic.

The literal translation from the French pin, hinge, support motive, and this is also the function that this movement has the tango.
You run a pivot when, with your legs together and the weight on one foot, it rotates on its axis; can be rotated to varying degrees according to the figures that must be performed.
When you run a ocho ocho atrás adelante or a change of direction is performed with a pivot.
When you run the pivot while dancing you have to keep the frontal bust with their partner, then only rotates the pelvis and was in dissociation.
