Qualche osservazione riguardo come organizzare la scuola di tango

Nel nostro comune produrre beneficio per le lezioni di Tango, abbiamo notato la grande importanza di avere una buona scelta nel repertorio musicale, la presenza di una fotocamera e di un sistema video che permetta agli allievi di poter vedere filmati di grandi protagonisti della danza, come icona da emulare, come stimolo ad essere sempre più perfetti nella esecuzione dei passi.

Per la fotocamera, qualsiasi va bene: serve per fare lo scatto di una posizione da mostrare alla coppia danzante per riconoscere eventuali errori non riconoscibili da essi al momento. Per il sistema video, noi insistiamo sulla utilità di poter vedere, come coppia danzante, cosa il maestro di Tango vuole indicare, nel caso la spiegazione fatta dal docente non sia sufficiente ad essere compresa. 

Per la musica, una nota a parte: noi insistiamo che non può essere sufficiente l'ascolto della solita musica degli anni passati o degli anni primordiali di questa danza, ma si debba ampliare anche con musiche moderne, purchè esse abbiano risonanza con il ritmo del Tango. Molto spesso ci si trova di fronte ad allievi il cui senso musicale è ridotto quasi a zero: musiche moderne adeguatamente presentate ed eseguite permettono un nuovo approccio alla danza con un piacere sempre crescente. Torneremo su questo argomento.

In our mutual benefit to produce Tango lessons, we noted the importance of having a good choice in the musical repertoire, the presence of a camera and a video system that allows students to see movies of the great protagonists of the dance, as icon to emulate, as an incentive to be more and more perfect in the execution of the steps.

For the camera, all models are fine: it serves to snap a position to show the couple dancing and permits to detect possible errors not detectable by themself at the time. For the video system, we insist on the usefulness of being able to see, as a couple dancing, what the teacher wants to indicate during Tango lesson, if the explanation made by the teacher is not enough to be understood.

For music, a side note: we insist that it can not be enough listening to the same music of past years or the primordial years of this dance, but we should also expand with modern music, as long as they have resonance with the pace of Tango. Very often we are faced with students whose musical sense is reduced almost to zero: modern music adequately performed and presented, allows a new approach to dance with pleasure growing. We will return to this topic.

Il Pivot in Tango

La traduzione letterale dal francese è perno, cardine, sostegno movente, e questa è anche la funzione che questo movimento ha nel tango.

Si esegue un pivot quando, con le gambe unite e il peso su un solo piede, si ruota sul proprio asse; si può ruotare di vari gradi secondo le figure che si devono eseguire.

Quando si esegue un ocho adelante o un ocho atrás il cambio di direzione viene effettuato con un pivot.

Quando si esegue il pivot mentre si balla bisogna mantenere la frontalità del busto con il proprio partner, quindi ruota soltanto il bacino e si è in dissociazione.

Two words about Tango Canyengue (or Orillero)

Canyengue has the following attributes:

• The lead and follower have bent knees.
• The Canyengue is extremely playful and charismatic - often described as "incisive, exciting and provocative"; in the old guard of tango, it was said that the dancers had the 'Canyenguero mice' in their feet.
• A characteristic is for the dancers to quite often walk together side-by-side or forwards.
• Generally danced in close embrace, in a V-offset.
• Both lead and follower share one axis.
• Dancing is done with firm contact on the ground. Steps are small, historically limited by the tight fit of the women's dresses around the 1900s.
• Canyengue makes significant use of the cortes, or stops - accentuated by the knees being bent. This is combined with a steady on-off beat (2/4) of dancing.
• Another feature of the Canyengue is the corrida: small, quick steps to a run or almost run.
• The joints from the waist up (shoulder, elbow and head) are much more mobile than normal tango, called body dissociation.
• The spine is slightly soft, not rigid.
• Contact is maintained chest to chest.
• The follower is significantly offset to the lead's right, with the lead's right cheek in contact with the follower's left cheek.
• The man's embrace is low compared to the woman's: The lead has his arm around just above the waist whereas the follower has her arm over the man’s shoulder.
• Generally the cruzada is absent.
• The contacting hands are often seen extremely low compared to other styles
